!  East 58th Street Renovation

The goal of this project was to convert an existing lackluster space in a 100 year old building into one which conveyed warmth, elegance and a consistency in design based on the traditional details of the building.

The renovation included:

  • rebuilding and leveling a new oak floor to replace the existing slack floor.
  • building a new level ceiling including up-to-date lighting with recessed features as well as surface and wall-mounted accent fixtures, plus additional electric and data outlets.
  • creating a new hearth, mantle, and surround in keeping with the history of the building.
  • creating two new built-in bookcases and a new built-in radiator cover and window seat.
  • raising existing door openings and installing a restored 100 year old stained glass window to add more light to the bedroom space.
  • designing new base molding, doors, door and window casing, and crown molding to restore a sense of history and character to the residence.
  • selecting appropriate furnishings and determining a proper furniture plan.
